2017 NFL Draft: Ole Miss Evan Engram Scouting Report
Ole Miss’ Evan Engram is an athletic tight end prospect who has the skills needed to be a difference maker in the passing game.
Evan Engram is coming off a terrific college career where he racked up a ton of catches. He’s listed as a tight end, but is basically a bigger receiver. Ole Miss used him more out of the slot than at the line of scrimmage.
He just doesn’t have the size and strength needed to be an effective blocker. In fact, his best blocks come when he’s working as an H-back and leading the running back through the hole.

Engram’s lack of blocking skills will impact his draft stock, but plenty of teams will be willing to over look this problem. His ability to produce in the passing game is what NFL teams will notice and why he’ll be drafted.
This is a natural pass catcher who plucks the ball away from his frame. He runs clean routes that also feature excellent deception. Engram just has a knack for creating separation and giving his quarterback an open target.
His quickness and speed give him the ability to attack the seam. He features the body control and leaping ability to win in contested situations. Engram has enough speed to pick up yards after the catch and create in space.
Overall, this is a pass-catching threat that can create a ton of mismatches. Engram is not only a game breaker but also a reliable target. His issues as a blocker may force teams to look at him as more of a receiver than a tight end.
