In the first hour or so of the legal tampering period, it felt like nothing was happening as things moved slow. Soon after, though, the 2017 NFL free agency rumors started flowing and have only increased in both volume and importance since then. Now that the free agency period officially begins at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 9, things could reach another gear.
There were some big deals made on Wednesday throughout, which you can catch up on from our Wednesday NFL free agency rumors tracker. One of the biggest storylines was the report that the Dallas Cowboys will officially release Tony Romo on Thursday, something that's been expected for some time now.

Additionally, we also saw free agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall—who was cut by the New York Jets approximately a week ago—signing with the New York Giants to bolster their receiving corps. What's more, we also saw Dwayne Allen get traded to the New England Patriots after the Indianapolis Colts re-signed Jack Doyle. Then, of course, the San Francisco 49ers went on a shopping spree as they signed what feels like just about everyone.
Then things really picked up near the end of the day, particularly with the Jacksonville Jaguars as they bolstered their defense in a big way. In the afternoon, they agreed to terms with free agent safety Barry Church. That was just the prelude, though, as they then were able to agree with Calais Campbell in the evening.

DeSean Jackson Heading Down South
After strong recruiting from Jameis Winston and company, Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the free agent speedster DeSean Jackson will sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Texans Will No Longer Be Bad and Bouye
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, highly coveted free agent cornerback A.J. Bouye is expected to sign somewhere other than with the Houston Texans:
Chicago Lands Their Quarterback
The Chicago Bears will land one of the best quarterbacks on the market—for what that's worth—as they'll sign Mike Glennon to a deal that will pay him an average of $14.5 million over three years, per Ian Rapaport of NFL Network. Rapaport adds that they'll still draft a quarterback for the future:

Seahawks Going After A Big-Name Veteran…But Not That One
After reports that they had no interest right now in Adrian Peterson, Ian Rapaport is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks are interested in running back Jamaal Charles:

Family Reunion With the Panthers
In need of offensive line help, the Carolina Panthers are expected to sign free agent left tackle Matt Kalil—joining his brother, Ryan—from the Vikings, per Adam Schefter:
The picture should start to take better shape starting on Thursday—or at least even more so than it already has. Many of the bigger names on the market have made deals, but there's still the likes of Dont'a Hightower, Alshon Jeffery and many others that have potential moves to make.
