A.J. Green injury update: Bengals receiver carted off (Video)
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was carted off the field early in Week 11.
The Cincinnati Bengals enter Week 11 needing a win against the Buffalo Bills. That win just got a lot tougher, as star wide receiver A.J. Green has been carted off the field. It doesn’t appear to be a non-contact injury, which is good. Without Green, the Bengals offense could struggle mightily. He is quarterback Andy Dalton’s favorite target and the focal point of their attack.
Green could be out for a while if this injury is as bad as it seems. Green looked to be in serious pain, but sometimes injuries aren’t nearly as bad as they look. Bengals fans should be hoping that’s the case with Green. However, things aren’t looking too optimistic right now. He might have torn a knee ligament or done something to his ankle. Anything that would cause Green to miss significant time is bad. Initial reports have him with a hamstring injury, but he was hurt badly enough to need to be carted off.
He has been listed as questionable to return, according to NFL.com. The Bills should benefit from Green’s absence, though obviously no one wants to see that kind of injury happen to anyone. Green leads the Bengals with 964 receiving yards through his first nine games with four touchdowns. Teams have been honing on him without a secondary receiving threat, but he’s still putting very impressive numbers.
Without Green, the Bengals will likely turn to Brandon LaFell and their running attack. Jeremy Hill and Giovanni Bernard have both been versatile weapons so far. Because Dalton is comfortable with them, going to a more conservative attack might work, though the Bills have a strong run defense. Stay tuned for more updates regarding A.J. Green and his injury as the Bengals hope to pull out a win against the Bills.
