Adam Humphries Catches Wild Touchdown Off Deflection (Video)
Adam Humphries came up with a long touchdown catch using tremendous concentration to make the grab off of a deflection.
Early in the third quarter, the Dallas Cowboys seemed to be in control. Not only did they have a 17-6 lead, but they were winning the matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on both sides of the ball. However, all it takes is one stroke of luck to turn momentum in a game, particularly a game in primetime. Case in point would be the play that Bucs receiver Adam Humphries made early in the second half.
With the Tampa offense needing a spark, Jameis Winston decided to show off his strong arm again. The second-year gunslinger looked deep down the field to try and find Humphries. However, Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr had some great coverage and got a hand on the ball after making a dive for it.
Except even that wasn’t enough. There was so much zip on the deep ball from Winston that the deflection still went through and Humphries maintained his vision of the pigskin. He then hauled in the deflection in the end zone for a huge six points in the third quarter:

To even get a hand on the ball after that deflection takes great concentration on the part of the receiver. So for Humphries to come up like that with a big catch is remarkably impressive.
Moreover, that catch truly did swing momentum in the game. The Cowboys offense came out on the next drive and didn’t have anything going. That then allowed Tampa to come back out, keep driving, and score again to take a 20-17 third-quarter lead.
