Adrian Peterson issues a warning -- to his own O-linemen
No one likes tackling Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, but blocking for him can be an unforgiving job, too.
In the lead up to Peterson's first game back since Sept. 7, 2014, the All-Pro running back touched on his new-look offensive line. Joe Berger has replaced an injured John Sullivan at center. Fourth-round rookie T.J. Clemmings has done the same for Phil Loadholt at right tackle. Mike Harris, a converted tackle, is manning the right guard role between Berger and Clemmings.
"I’m always pushing those guys to, ‘Hey, we need to go full speed because this is going to be what it is in the game, especially when I’m coming your way," Peterson said, per ESPN's Ben Goessling. "I don’t want to run you over or find my face mask in your back. You’re not going to like that."
Peterson, 30, might not be the most patient runner upon his return to action. He spent 15 perfectly healthy games on the exempt/commissioner's permission list last season, and he didn't take a single handoff in this year's preseason.
With rushing records waiting to be broken, the players trying to block for Peterson could be just as much in the way as those trying to tackle him.
