Adrian Peterson scores first touchdown in 22 months
When Adrian Peterson crashed into the end zone from 2 yards out to give the Minnesota Vikings a first-half lead over the visiting San Diego Chargers on Sunday, it was the 2012 NFL MVP running back's first score in 22 months.
Peterson spent 15 games last season on the exempt/commissioner's permission list after being indicted in a child-abuse case in Montgomery County, Texas, in September. He was officially reinstated by the NFL in April.
In Week 2, Peterson put up a lot of yardage (134 rushing, 58 receiving), but the Lions were able to keep him out of the end zone in a 26-16 Vikings victory.
Later in the Chargers game, Peterson added a second touchdown. He made San Diego's defense look absolutely foolish on the 43-yard scoring scamper.
The touchdown was the 93rd of Peterson's career, tying him with wide receiver Randy Moss for second-most in franchise history. He needs 17 more to catch the Vikings' all-time touchdown leader Cris Carter (110).

Peterson also moved into 25th place on the NFL's all-time rushing list on Sunday, passing Eddie George and Tiki Barber.
