The Detroit Lions made several roster moves Wed. morning, the most notable of which is decidedly bad news.

Running back Ameer Abdullah is now on injured reserve with a foot injury. He got hurt on this spectacular run against the Titans:

Abdullah saw a foot specialist in North Carolina on Tuesday and the results are devastating for the Lions. He finishes his 2016 with 101 yards on 18 carries, plus a touchdown wiped out via penalty.

There is no official diagnosis on Ameer Abdullah as of yet, unfortunately.

Expect Dwayne Washington to pick up the bulk of the carries, with Theo Riddick also getting more handoffs.

In the corresponding roster move, the Lions added former New England Patriots WR Aaron Dobson to the active roster.

Dobson is a bigger wideout at 6’3″ and 215 pounds. In three seasons with the Patriots, the Marshall product caught 53 passes for 698 yards and 4 TDs. Most of that came in his rookie season. He often shined in preseason and training camp but never made much of a lasting impact when the games mattered.

In other Detroit Lions roster moves, the team made some changes to the practice squad.

Gooden and Wynn were both among the final cuts. The speedy linebacker could earn a promotion quickly out of dire necessity, as the Lions are incredibly thin at the position. There could be more Detroit Lions roster moves in the very near future, including RB Joique Bell, who worked out for the team.
