Amid protests, NFL plans to keep Panthers game in Charlotte
After two nights of sometimes violent protests in downtown Charlotte, officials from the NFL and the Carolina Panthers reportedly were meeting about the possibility of moving Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings to another location, according to FOX 46 Charlotte.
But the NFL issued a statement to CBS Sports Thursday that said it is staying the course.
The Panthers said earlier Thursday that they were also monitoring events in relation to Sunday's game.

A state of emergency was declared in Charlotte late Wednesday after one protester was shot in what police said was protester-on-protester violence. Several other people were injured, and police used tear gas to break up the crowd. The protests stem from the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott on Tuesday, and the North Carolina National Guard arrived in Charlotte early Thursday to control the situation.
Sunday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium, which is located in downtown Charlotte.
