And another one? Browns and Travis Benjamin in contract talks
By Will Gibson
Does this qualify as the most exciting day of the 2015 Browns season? First they signed breakout tight end Gary Barnidge to an extension, and now word is that wide receiver Travis Benjamin may be on the way to getting his own deal.
I tell 'ya, that Ray Farmer knows exactly what he’s doing.
#Browns travis Benjamin said he's "75 to 80 percent" close to signing his own extension.

Much like Barnidge, Benjamin is having a season that dwarfs all of his that came before it. He has more than doubled his career receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown totals through 12 games this season. He has caught 54 balls for 826 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. He entered the season with career totals of 41 receptions, 717 yards, and five touchdowns. He has been the most targeted receiver on the team, with 97 passes coming his way (Barnidge is second with 93) and is in the top 20 league wide in yards and yards per catch.
With the Browns’ lack of depth at wide receiver — Whither Dwayne Bowe? Is Andrew Hawkins okay? Will Josh Gordon ever return? Remember Vince Mayle? — and apparent disinterest in spending a top draft pick on one, re-signing a burner like Benjamin seems prudent. As with Barnidge there should be some concern that Benjamin’s season is a flash in the pan, but this being the Browns, that old saying about beggars and choosers comes to mind.
