Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald still the man
Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald had himself quite a night against the New England Patriots
That rumor about Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald retiring at the end of the 2016 season? Don’t believe everything you hear, even if it is coming from reliable sources. He reached career-milestone 100 touchdowns on Sunday night.
Early Sunday, rumors started spreading that sources were reporting that Fitz was going to hang it up after the 2016 season. After the loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday night, he put those rumors to rest.
Fitz told reporters there was a reason why he signed a contract for the 2017 season. Basically he said he isn’t planning on going anywhere.
The way Fitz performed against the Patriots, he shouldn’t even be close to thinking about retirement. Targeted 10 times by quarterback Carson Palmer, Fitz caught eight passes for 81 yards and had two touchdowns.

His second touchdown was over the shoulder while sliding. Vintage Fitz. Two of his receptions on the Cardinals last offensive drive were simply amazing. One looked like caught him by surprise but yet he still found a way to haul it in.
With his two touchdowns reaching 100 on Sunday, Fitz is now tied for eighth all-time in touchdown receptions. He is now tied with receiving greats Tim Brown and Steve Largent. That’s not bad company.
For a guy that just turned 33, he certainly played like he was still in his 20’s and has a lot of years left. Even if Fitz doesn’t retire after this season, we know that time will be coming soon.
Cardinals fans should enjoy every second Fitz is on the field. He continues to provide energy and exuberance. On one grab Sunday night he jumped up and was quite animated. He still has the drive to perform well and win.
Fitz still looks like a player on the upswing of his career even though he is in the last stages of it. Seeing that proves that his time hasn’t come yet. It will but for now, enjoy the ride.
