Arrowhead Stadium will host more summer events in the future
More than 40,000 fans packed Arrowhead Stadium to watch the Rolling Stones last weekend.
Mark Donovan doesn't want to stop there. The Chiefs' team president told the Kansas City Business Journal he intends to pack the venue with more non-sporting summer events going forward.
Donovan pointed to 2010 as a turning point in the iconic stadium's use. That's when Arrowhead renovations were finally complete and the team could put its new functionality to use year-round.
Fewer athletic contests, like the cancelled Missouri-Kansas football game, clamored to use the stadium. So Donovan booked music acts, like country stars Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean.
The Rolling Stones' "Zip Code" tour was just the latest act, but it won't be the team's last. British boy band "One Direction" will play at Arrowhead on July 28.
