Baby born at Lucas Oil Stadium during Browns-Colts game is niece of WR David Bell
Kareem Hunt punched in a 1-yard touchdown run with 15 seconds remaining to give the Cleveland Browns a memorable 39-38 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. However, that was not the only exciting moment that took place in Lucas Oil Stadium Sunday afternoon.
A woman gave birth inside the stadium during the Browns-Colts game, and it turns out that the baby is the niece of Browns wide receiver and Indianapolis native David Bell. The second-year player out of Purdue confirmed the news in an interview with Indiana-based television station WLFI.
"Her whole idea was to try to have the baby before the game but, you know it's all in God's timing," Bell told WLFI of his niece's mother. "Now I have a new niece, so hopefully I get to see her when I come back to the city."
Capital Improvement Board, which is the public entity that oversees Lucas Oil Stadium, released a statement confirming the birth of the baby girl.
"We are excited to be a part of their history," Capital Improvement Board officials said. "We also want to extend thanks to our partners at IU Health for being prepared for any medical situation."
Kareem Butler, who is Bell's mother, told WLFI that the baby girl was born around 1:20 p.m., just 20 minutes after kickoff.
"She was due the 26th, but her mom went into labor as we were crossing the street," Butler said. "So, when they got here, they went to the first aid."
Bell and the Browns improved to 4-2 on the season following the win over the Colts. They will travel to Seattle to battle the Seahawks at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday on FOX.
