Belichick: Blake Bortles is 'pretty fast, kind of like Tyrod Taylor'
Tyrod Taylor is one of the fastest quarterbacks in the league and often gets compared to fellow Virginia Tech Hokie, Michael Vick. But Bill Belichick has a different comparison for Taylor -- one that probably hasn't been said before: Blake Bortles.
"I think Bortles looks pretty fast, kind of like Taylor," Belichick said via Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. "He's got a couple 30-yard gains and that kind of thing. He's pretty dangerous to just take off and run and can get a lot of yardage. His athleticism can buy time in the pocket. He's a good passer."
The more typical comparison for Bortles is Ben Roethlisberger. Both have similar body types and are tough to get on the ground, but Belichick sees differences between the two.
"But I'd say he's probably a little bit more of a threat to run with the ball than Roethlisberger" he said. "Roethlisberger is probably more apt to buy extra time to watch the play extend and then hit somebody down the field, that type of thing."
The New England Patriots will be tasked with containing Bortles on Sunday when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. It seems to be a focus for Belichick and the Patriots this week, yet it shouldn't be overly challenging.
Last week, the Patriots recorded eight sacks against Taylor and the Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars don't have the strongest offensive line in the league, so the pass rushers should be licking their lips once again.
