Ben Jones ready to step in at center for Texans

The Houston Texans are in the market for a new starting center after the offseason release of longtime starter Chris Myers. Ben Jones believes he's up to the task.

Jones, who is entering his fourth season with team, says he's prepared to slide over from his left guard spot in 2015.

"I know if they want me to play center I will be prepared and that's why we have a great coaching staff," Jones said, via ESPN's Tania Ganguli. "Wherever they feel me most comfortable, I'll step right in and do whatever they ask."

A fourth-round pick out of the University of Georgia in 2012, Jones lined up at guard for most of the past two seasons. His acclimation to playing center in the NFL won't be as big of a story as the training camp battle between Ryan Mallett and Brian for the starting quarterback job, but will have a large impact on the Houston offense nonetheless.

"I'm just getting ready, and whatever I can do to make the team better, I'm there for it," Jones said.
