Ben Roethlisberger seen throwing at practice eight days after knee surgery
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Patriots on Sunday further illustrated how much they need Ben Roethlisberger on the field. It’s not like backup QB Landry Jones played poorly, but he’s just not Big Ben.
Well, the Steelers got to see Roethlisberger on the field Tuesday — albeit in practice. Eight days after he underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, the Steelers' star quarterback was seen throwing passes.
Steelers owner Art Rooney initially estimated the best-case scenario for Roethlisberger’s return would be two to three weeks, though the team was more cautious, saying two to six weeks.
Despite missing last week’s game, Roethlisberger is still tied for second in the league in touchdown passes (16). The Steelers don’t return to the field until Nov. 6, when they face Baltimore following their bye week.
