Bill Belichick calls QB Ryan Lindley's best trait 'his health'

If New England Patriots fans were worried about seeing newly-acquired quarterback Ryan Lindley seeing the field in the regular season, they can breathe a sigh of relief.

On Monday, Bill Belichick shed some light on the Lindley signing. After hearing his comments, it's evident that Lindley is merely a camp body to take the field in training camp and preseason games when Jimmy Garoppolo is on the sidelines.

"He's got some experience," Belichick said. "He's been with a couple of different organizations, played some. And his health, the most important trait."

The most interesting part of Belichick's comments on Lindley is the last part: "his health, the most important trait."

When a coach talks about a quarterback's best traits, he usually says his accuracy or mobility or pocket presence. Not Belichick. Not when talking about Lindley. His best trait is obviously his health.

So long as Garoppolo and Brady are both healthy, they'll be the only quarterbacks on the roster during the regular season. Don't read too much into the Lindley signing. He's likely just there to fill in for Garoppolo in the preseason.
