Bills WR Hogan feels 'pretty comfortable' with his spot on team

Given the rash of injuries the Buffalo Bills have sustained at wide receiver this offseason, young players have been given bonus chances to earn a roster spot.

Chris Hogan, who's entering his fourth season with the Bills, has reaped the benefits of the extra opportunities, although he has just two catches in the preseason. Still, he's not worried about his spot on the roster.

"No, this will be my third year," Hogan said via Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News. "And last year, I just really got a good feel for this game playing receiver. So I know what it's like come Sundays to turn it on."

Currently, Hogan is nursing a knee injury that he doesn't believe to be serious. He expects to be ready for Week 1, which is important in solidifying his spot on the team.

Last season, Hogan saw an increased role for the Bills, catching 41 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns. He'll look to follow up those numbers this season, although the wide receiver group has gotten significantly more crowded.

"I feel pretty comfortable," Hogan said. "But when this kind of stuff happens, you take a step back and help these you guys. You take all the mental reps you can and put yourself out there as much as you can even though you're not physically out there."

The Bills are crowded at wide receiver on the depth chart. Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Percy Harvin, and special teams ace Marcus Easley are essentially locks to make the 53-man roster, leaving one or two spots for the remaining wideouts.

Marquise Goodwin, Deonte Thompson, and Andre Davis also have a case to make the team, which will leave a couple of good receivers on the outside looking in. Hogan's job isn't finished, but he's got some stiff competition at wideout.
