Bowles looking to become Jets' fourth consecutive coach to pull this off
The New York Jets are just one win away from making the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The only thing standing in their way is Rex Ryan and his Buffalo Bills. However, even if the Jets don't win the season finale, a loss by the Pittsburgh Steelers will get them into the postseason dance.
If New York does secure a playoff berth, Todd Bowles will become the fourth consecutive coach for the franchise to reach the postseason in his first season. The other three were Rex Ryan, Eric Mangini and Herm Edwards.
Bowles has completely changed the culture since Ryan left and has led the Jets to six more wins than they had all of last season -- and they still have one game to play. If the Jets win, it'll be the biggest turnaround from one coach to the next since Bill Parcells took over in 1997 when New York went from 1-15 to 9-7.
There's no doubt Bowles is a candidate to win Coach of the Year this season, especially if the Jets make the playoffs after finishing 4-12 last season.
