Brady matches Marino, now tied for third on career TD list
Sunday night’s game in Denver will likely not be one Tom Brady looks back on fondly, what with Rob Gronkowski suffering a knee injury and Brady’s Patriots suffering their first loss of the season to a quarterback making his second career start. But that doesn’t mean the game shouldn’t be a memorable one for the four-time Super Bowl winner.
In fact, Brady did something once dreamed unimaginable by many.
With his 63-yard strike to running back Brandon Bolden 10 seconds into the fourth quarter, Brady tied Dan Marino for the third-most touchdown passes in NFL history at 420.

It is the second time in his career Brady surpassed a once-fabled Marino mark, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 50 touchdown passes in a season, doing it in 2007. Marino smashed the then-record of 36 with a whopping 48 in 1984.
Brady’s record for TD passes in a season has since gone down to Peyton Manning, who threw 55 in 2013. And it is Manning who also holds the record for career passing touchdowns with 539. Brett Favre, the first person to pass Marino’s career mark, sits second with 508.
