Branden Oliver to address new NFLers at the Rookie Symposium
Only draft picks are invited to the NFL's annual Rookie Symposium in Aurura, Ohio.
That means Branden Oliver wasn't on the guest list last year. But that doesn't make his story any less noteworthy.
The Chargers running back will serve as a guest speaker and advisee for a new generation of players, according to U-T San Diego.
“I’ll be sharing some of the things I went through my first year,” Oliver said. “Financially, you want to be stable. Come in here with the mentality to stay focused and do what you’ve got to do. Learn from the veterans. I came into a good situation. Definitely learn from those guys and be humble.”
Oliver was bypassed in the NFL Draft, but the 5-foot-6 ballcarrier persevered and made the most of his opportunity. He's the perfect choice to speak at this gathering.
Attendees should listen up. Guys like Oliver knock draft picks out of the league every year by working harder and staying focused.
