Brandon LaFell scores TD on 86-yard catch and run (Video)
It may have been a boring Christmas Eve matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans, but Brandon LaFell’s 86-yard touchdown provided some excitement.
The Cincinnati Bengals have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but that doesn’t mean they took their Christmas Eve matchup with the playoff-hopeful Houston Texans lightly.
With the Texans needing a win Saturday night to bolster their playoff odds, the Bengals came into Houston with virtually nothing to play for. That didn’t stop wide receiver Brandon LaFell from playing for pride though.
In the fourth quarter of a low scoring, boring game, Andy Dalton threw a pass to LaFell on the outside. He turned that play into an 86-yard touchdown to inject some life into a lethargic affair. LaFell juked one defender, turned on the jets, and ran it all the way into the end zone from there.
Short pass to @Blafell1 who takes it 86 YARDS for the TD!

The score gave the Bengals a 10-6 lead after the PAT, putting them in prime position to win the ball game. An Alfred Blue touchdown for the Texans put them ahead 12-10, but Houston missed the extra point and the Bengals drove down the field to set themselves up for a 43-yard game-winning field goal.
Unfortunately for LaFell and company, the Bengals missed that field goal as time expired, giving Houston the win and the playoff berth.
This thrilling touchdown play may not have resulted in a win for Cincinnati, but it was easily the most exciting play of a listless matchup.
With the Bengals eliminated from playoff contention and yet another disappointing, underperforming loss added to their resume, you have to wonder how much longer Marvin Lewis — the coach who has never led this team out of the first round — will be on the sidelines.
