Brian Baldinger suspended six months by NFL Network for bounty comments

Former NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger has been suspended from his role as an analyst on the NFL Network after telling a local radio station that the Eagles should put a bounty on anyone trying to stop Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, according to ProFootballTalk.

Baldinger has been suspended for six months without pay.

“This is the guy that we’ve got to take out of the game,” Baldinger said on Philadelphia’s 97.5 The Fanatic. “There’s got to be 10 guys that want to hurt him every single play. In fact, we may even put a little bounty on Ezekiel Elliott.”

Baldinger played for the Cowboys from 1982 to 1987 and then the Eagles in 1992 and 1993.

The Eagles limited Elliott to 96 yards, which was his fewest since Week 2. He has 799 yards and five touchdowns on the season.

The NFL has strengthened its stance against bounties after a scandal involving the New Orleans Saints was uncovered from 2009 to 2011.
