Brock Osweiler sees no need for Broncos to draft another QB

Denver is reportedly in the market for a young quarterback this weekend.

Their current backup wants to show his team it can make better use of its draft picks.

"I can only control how much I know the playbook, how I practice," backup Brock Osweiler told the Denver Post. "I have spent morning, afternoon, night, seven days a week, just pounding the playbook into my brain."

To this point, Denver's brass hasn't seen much progress from Osweiler. That's why they've been tied to current quarterback prospects like Colorado State's Garrett Grayson.

But Osweiler inherited a nearly-impossible situation to succeed in. He's stuck behind Peyton Manning, an NFL legend who just keeps coming back for more.

Osweiler finally thought he'd get a shot when Manning was wavering about a return this offseason. The 6-foot-8 passer was on his honeymoon when he heard the news that Manning would return for another season.

That's when his thoughts turned to becoming the best backup possible for 2015.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to be the starter for this team, but at the same time it wasn't up to me," Osweiler said. ""I want to try to give Coach (Gary) Kubiak and (general manager) John Elway the best product that they've seen from me in four years."
