Broncos' Britton Colquitt takes pay cut, locks himself in at punter

Published Aug. 4, 2015 12:24 p.m. ET

Britton Colquitt made the Broncos' punting decision a whole lot easier.

Colquitt, formerly the league's highest-paid punter, took a pay cut from $3 million to $1.6 million, according to ProFootballTalk. The haircut helps ease some pressure from Demaryius Thomas' recent megadeal.

Denver would've had a tough punting choice without Colquitt's largesse. They could've selected to go with a more economically-friendly option, but that's no longer an issue now.

The bigger problem could be that Denver's Colquitt now makes less than his punting brother in Kansas City. That'll make for some awkward family gatherings.
