Broncos WR Cody Latimer tells cops he's domestic violence victim, still gets arrested
Denver Broncos wide receiver Cody Latimer reported to police that he was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of his girlfriend, and still ended up getting arrested.
Latimer, 23, called the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office in the early hours of Monday morning to report that his girlfriend, Jamie Rando, "put her hands on him" during a dispute. However while investigating his complaint, the sheriff's office discovered Latimer had a warrant for his arrest on an outstanding traffic ticket. Latimer was booked on Monday night and released Tuesday after paying a fine. Rando was arrested on charges of assault and disturbing the peace and was bailed out by Latimer on Tuesday.
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak told Colorado's 9 News that Latimer was absent from Tuesday's practice for "personal reasons".
Latimer, a second-round pick out of Indiana, has played mostly on special teams in two seasons with Denver; he has eight career catches for 82 yards.
