Browns risk passing up elite QB in draft deal with Eagles

BEREA, Ohio (AP) Browns vice president of football operations Sashi Brown says the team knows it may have passed up a chance to draft a franchise quarterback in making its blockbuster trade with Philadelphia.

Cleveland swapped first-round picks on Wednesday with the Eagles, moving down from No. 2 to No. 8 and acquiring two more picks this year as well as Philadelphia's first-round pick in 2017 and a second-rounder in 2018.

Brown said the trade is not an indictment of quarterbacks Carson Wentz or Jared Goff, one of whom will likely go to the Eagles. Brown believes the two QBs have bright futures in the NFL, but the Browns couldn't pass up a chance to load up on draft picks to rebuild their roster.

The Browns have had 24 starting quarterbacks since 1999. They signed free agent quarterback Robert Griffin III during the offseason, but Brown says team officials ''haven't solved'' their quarterback situation.
