Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest took on added meaning Sunday given that he was making his first start of the season as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback.
Once again, he knelt for the anthem, but before the music began at New Era Field in Buffalo, fans broke into a chant of U-S-A.
Kaepernick was joined by several teammates in his protest, but there were no more chants after the anthem ended.
There was, though, one security person making his own stand behind Kaepernick.
