Cam Newton is the reason the Panthers are undefeated

When playing divisional rivals in the NFL, you throw records out the window. After climbing back from an early 10-0 deficit to the New Orleans Saints, the Panthers did what good teams do; find a way to win the game.

It wasn’t pretty, but the game showed that Carolina is capable of being able to come back from early deficits, something that they struggled with last year.

As for now, Carolina is one of the few teams in the NFC still undefeated, and besides the great play from their injured defense, a large portion of the credit goes to the excellent play of quarterback Cam Newton. Newton was responsible seven touchdowns in three games for the Panther’s this year, and for the second straight week has posted over 25 points in fantasy.

With star Wide Receiver Kelvin Benjamin out for the season, many questioned how Carolina’s offense would fare with a questionable offensive line and the loss of veteran running back DeAngelo Williams. Although they have yet to play an elite passing defense, Newton has responded to the critics by playing like a top-10 Quarterback for the beginning of the 2015 season.

Newton completed 20-of-31 passes for 315 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions as well as a rushing touchdown in the win over the Saints on Sunday and showed that Carolina’s offense runs through him.

It was the second week in a row he’s had at least one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. This may be the result of the more constant use of play action calls on offense, which has improved the quality of his ability to be a truly effective dual-threat quarterback.

Things for Newton are easier when the offensive line plays exceptional like it did on Sunday, only allowing one sack and giving Cam lots of time to make better passes. I know its early, but I’m excited at how well Newton has played so far, and it’s truly impressive how much he has showed improvement from last year.

His passes are much more accurate, and his decision making has improved ten fold, along with the fact there are few Quarterbacks in the league that seem as comfortable outside of the pocket as he does.
