Cam Newton sued for trashing Beverly Hills mansion after Super Bowl loss

Cam Newton drew criticisms for his post game press conference performance after Super Bowl 50, but his alleged antics after that may cost him some money.

After a disappointing loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton cut his post game press conference short. He came off as a whiner and a sore loser, though most people in that situation might have reacted similarly.

Newton apparently rented a Beverly Hills mansion after that Super Bowl loss, which seems like a solid way to unwind, put a bad game behind him and start the offseason on the right foot. But what he allegedly did to the house has Newton in some hot water.

TMZ is reporting Newton caused around $90,000 worth of damage to that Beverly Hills mansion and he’s being sued for an additional $180,000 in lost rent. For whatever it might be worth, former WWE diva Stacy Keibler’s husband, Jared Pobre, manages the luxury home rental company that leased the $11 million palace to Newton in March.

TMZ obtained a copy of the lawsuit, which cites Newton paid $123,00 to rent the house for 61 days. Newton also reportedly agreed there would be no parties, no smoking and no more than eight guests. Apparently the housekeeper snitched, telling the rental company Newton threw multiple parties with cigarette ashes left all over the house.

Reported further details of the lawsuit include Pobre warning Newton to cut out the activity he agreed not to do, which prompted the star quarterback to tell the housekeeper to quit “diming him out.” Pobre reportedly attempted to collect money for the alleged damages after Newton moved out, but he refused to pay. So a lawsuit looks like the last resort, and not part of Pobre’s initial plan.
