San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde has been cleared to play Week 1 versus the Los Angeles Rams. Hyde suffered a concussion in the preseason and had to go through the NFL’s protocol for head injuries.

The San Francisco 49ers will have No. 1 running back Carlos Hyde ready to go against the Los Angeles Rams for Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season.

Hyde suffered a concussion during the preseason and had to go through the NFL’s protocol against concussions and head injuries.

Per Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News, Hyde was no longer wearing a no-contact jersey at practice Thursday and seemed to be fully cleared in advance of Monday night’s game.

Hyde is still listed as probable on Pro Football Reference’s injury report for the week. Although this should change soon.

The third-year pro out of Ohio State will have a chance to replicate last year’s Monday Night Football success. Hyde rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings in a 20-3 Niners win.

San Francisco will again kick off its 2016 campaign in prime-time action on Monday night.

Head coach Chip Kelly will likely feature Hyde this season as the team’s bell cow on offense. With plenty of questions in the passing game, Hyde is the best offensive weapon Kelly has in his arsenal.

The 49ers also have backup tailbacks Shaun Draughn, Mike Davis and DuJuan Harris on the roster to spell Hyde as necessary and serve as immediate injury insurance.
