Carson Palmer is holding his own training session with teammates
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is in San Diego feeling healthier than ever. Palmer has been working out with a few teammates leading up to training camp in a couple of weeks. Palmer feels like he is in great shape and can do everything on the football field pain free.
“I’m not even thinking about my knee,” Palmer said, via AZCardinals.com. “I’m still rehabbing just to be on the safe side of things but I don’t need to be at rehab. I’m full go in the weight room, full go on the field, and until it’s brought up, I haven’t thought about what I’m not doing because I’m doing everything I was doing.”
The players working out with Palmer in his hometown of San Diego are tight ends Troy Niklas and Ifeanyi Momah, wide receiver John Brown, and backup QB Drew Stanton. Palmer says Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd could still stop by.
Palmer says the workouts are light, but it is good to keep your mind fresh before training camp begins.
“This isn’t the time of the year where we are trying to kill each other or get each other to throw up,” Palmer said. “It’s about staying healthy, but activating your brain. It’s easy to go from OTAs and minicamp and then shut down mentally. It’s important to have some refreshers.”
With Palmer missing so much time last season due to his injury, it is important for him to get the timing back with his receivers.
“We’re trying to get our timing down, trying to learn protections, be on the same page with one another, so we’ll be able to play faster,” Brown said.
Palmer knows this is one of his last chances to reach a Super Bowl and is not taking anything for granted.
“Once training camp gets going, there is no excuse to make mistakes,” Palmer said.
