Carson Wentz discusses what he needs to fix vs. Cowboys

Published Oct. 26, 2016 6:50 p.m. ET

The big games just keep coming for Eagles QB Carson Wentz, and despite winning last week's showdown with the Vikings, the rookie knows he has some stuff to fix before facing Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Wentz bounced back from his first two losses to beat the undefeated Vikings and Sam Bradford last week, but he struggled for the second straight week, completing just 16 of 28 for a season-low 138 yards with two interceptions. On Wednesday he discussed with reporters what he needs to fix, saying he needs to play better and smarter, plus fine tune his footwork.

Coach Doug Pederson told reporters he's working with Wentz on throws to his left, which the rookie missed several of Sunday. He called both Wentz and Prescott proven winners.

Wentz wouldn't talk too much about facing Prescott, but said "Who knows, we might be playing each other for a long time."

Teammate Jordan Matthews agreed.

Prescott, meanwhile, praised Wentz to reporters: "I figured he'd be a good player in this league. He's doing well. I definitely root for him, but not when he's playing us."

However, Prescott wasn't willing to discuss the QB matchup, either.
