Chargers' Melvin Gordon reminds Adrian Peterson of himself
Adrian Peterson sees his own reflection when he turns on Melvin Gordon's tape.
The Chargers rookie wears Peterson's number. And he displays the same explosive running style Peterson has in his nine star-studded seasons.
“He’s got real nice feet,” Peterson told a conference call of reporters. “He runs physical, and he’s quick in between the tackles. I think maybe that’s why I like him so much, because he reminds me of how I would run the ball with the talent that I’ve been presented with."
Gordon must be giddy. Vikings cornerback and fellow B1G product Trae Waynes described him as a "Peterson groupie" this summer -- right down to locker picture requests.
Gordon claims he's only a fan of Peterson's work. But when he meets the legendary running back on Sunday, an autograph request isn't out of the realm of possibility.
"It feels good to be a trendsetter -- to be a guy looked at as an inspiration to younger guys, younger backs that come into the league," Peterson said. "That’s a standard that I want to set and leave behind when I’m done playing the game."
