Chargers RB Dexter McCluster out for the year after freak luggage injury
The Minnesota Vikings have obviously been riddled with injuries this season, but the San Diego Chargers have had worse luck than any team on that front. Already having lost Danny Woodhead, Keenan Allen, Jason Verrett and a handful of others, the Chargers will now be without another playmaker for the remainder of the season.
According to the San Diego Tribune, Dexter McCluster suffered a freak injury at home during which he was moving luggage. The injury? A fractured forearm, which X-rays on Saturday confirmed. The team placed him on the non-football injury list and is out for the year.
The Chargers have a whopping 16 players on injured reserve, depleting their roster on both sides of the ball. They’ve still held up well despite all of their injuries, but it’s hard not to think about where they could be with a full roster.
McCluster is the third Chargers running back to go down with a season-ending injury, joining Branden Oliver and Woodhead in that regard. He did most of his work on special teams as a return man.
