The San Diego Chargers waived veteran wide receiver James Jones on Monday, less than a month after signing him.

Jones signed with the Chargers on Aug. 4 after Stevie Johnson suffered a season-ending injury. The 32-year-old veteran caught seven passes for 69 yards in the preseason.

Jones spent eight of his nine years in the NFL with the Packers, leading the league in touchdown receptions in 2012 and helping the franchise win the Super Bowl in 2010. He played in 16 games last year in Green Bay, finishing with 50 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns.
