Chargers' Stevie Johnson calls his WR group 'The Aliens'
Stevie Johnson looks around the wide receiver room and sees nothing but out-of-this-world potential.
That's one reason why Johnson's extraterrestrial nickname for his new group has stuck around Chargers Park.
"I looked around at us, and I thought about aliens," the new Chargers receiver told the team's official website. "Everybody knows about aliens. Everybody knows about Malcom Floyd. Everybody knows about me. Everybody knows about Keenan Allen and Jacoby Jones and everyone else. But do they really know about us? Do they really know the work we put in?"
The Chargers' final receiving depth chart is a bit like an alien's appearance. No one knows how either will look right now.
San Diego's martians aren't little or green, though. Every wideout on the team is over six feet tall and, for the most part, has some league experience.
It's that unlikely combination that has Johnson excited for the 2015 season to arrive.
"That is rare," he said. "That is alien-esque. That’s what it takes to be part of (the) Alien Nation."
