Chiefs injuries: Parker Ehinger sustains concussion
The Kansas City Chiefs will likely be without both guards on Sunday after watching Parker Ehinger get hurt on Wednesday.
In something you don’t see very often, the Chiefs sustained a fairly serious injury on Wednesday at practice. Rookie left guard Parker Ehinger sustained a concussion and might not be able to play on Sunday against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium. This news is coming on the heels of right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif missing practice with a high-ankle sprain, which may or may not force him to miss time.
With Duvernay-Tardif and Ehinger both potentially on the self, it appears that Zach Fulton and Jah Reid couls be starting on the inside next to Mitch Morse. The reality is, the Chiefs should be fine with these two. Reid played very well down the stretch on the inside, and was even playing guard against Houston in the AFC Wild Card round last year. Fulton was the starting center that day.

All that said, the biggest concern becomes depth. The Chiefs absolutely can’t afford any kind of injury to the line, because there is nobody but practice squad bodies behind them. Maybe this is a really good time to bring in Geoff Schwartz, who has been in Andy Reid’s system and is currently a healthy free agent?
Regardless, let’s hope that Duvernay-Tardif can play on Sunday. We will know plenty by how many players Kansas City calls up from the practice squad over the next few days.
