Chiefs' Jeremy Maclin in tears on sideline after suffering knee injury
Both Houston and Kansas City lost some star power in the third quarter of Saturday's AFC wild card game, as Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin sustained injuries on the same play.
Cameras showed Maclin in tears on the sideline as trainers looked at his knee. Maclin, who has missed two entire seasons because of ACL injuries, in 2009 in college at Missouri and 2013 with the Philadelphia Eagles, was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Head coach Andy Reid said after the game that Maclin sustained a knee sprain and will undergo an MRI tomorrow.
Watt injured his groin midway through the third quarter. He returned after a few plays, but soon left the game again when he was pushed to the ground by the head by tackle Eric Fisher.
"That's just a dirty play," Watt said. "But the injury was before that moment."
