Chiefs WR Chris Conley responds to critics of first full-time female coach
By Bill DeWitt
On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills hired Kathryn Smith as the league’s first full-time female coach, and almost instantly critics voiced their opinion.
Kevin Kiley, a radio host in Cleveland, was the most notable voice of opposition. He knocked the Bills decision to hire Smith on-air Thursday morning.
“Kaitlyn or Kathryn or whatever her name is,” Kiley said. “She’s been hired as a, this is absurd by the way, she’s been hired as a quality control coach.”
He didn’t stop there.
“No place for a woman in professional sports, in football, coaching men,” he said. “Men will not take to it. If you have 10 men on special teams, eight of them will be mumbling under their breath; it’s counter-productive. You’re setting her up to fail.”
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley has heard some of Smith’s critics and took to Twitter to voice his opinion.
Sexist comments about a female coach disgust me. Some men (boys) are mad she knows and can coach football better than them. #GrowUp

Well played, Mr. Conley.
Surely, he is not the only player who doesn’t see an issue with Smith being a coach in the NFL, so yes, it’s time for some to “#GrowUp.”
