Continuity paying off from Houston's Johnathan Joseph
It's status quo in Houston as Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph is preparing for his fifth season starting opposite fellow corner Kareem Jackson.
Joseph, who agreed to an extension with the Texans in June, said the longevity he and Jackson have had continues to reap benefit.
"The more you have familiarity with each other — me and Kareem are seeing through the same set of eyes — the more comfortable you are having that guy on the other side,” Joseph said, via the Houston Chronicle. “Kareem’s a great leader, and he’s always pushing me to get better.”
Familiarity with defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel's scheme is also paying off. Joseph said the players know what to expect in their second season under Crennel.
“It’s hard to compare because last year was our first year with the new coaching staff, but you can tell that the guys are more comfortable being on this defense the second time around,” Joseph said. “We’ve added pieces, and we’re working hard.”
