Cowboys legend Tony Dorsett on hand to watch Ezekiel Elliott break his rookie record
Ezekiel Elliott had already set a boatload of rookie records for the Dallas Cowboys this season coming into Sunday, but there was one big mark he hadn’t yet reached. He went into this week’s game with the second-most rushing yards by a Cowboys rookie, trailing Tony Dorsett by two yards.
Of course, he broke the record early in the first quarter, and the legend himself was on hand to witness it.
Dorsett had 1,007 yards on the ground in 1977, leading the Cowboys to a win in Super Bowl XII. He also had 12 rushing touchdowns – another mark Elliott is likely to pass (nine entering Sunday).
Last week, Elliott became just the third rookie to reach 1,000 rushing yards in nine games, joining Eric Dickerson and Adrian Peterson in that department.
