D.J. Fluker back practicing; Joey Bosa sits out
There was a big scare when Chargers guard D.J. Fluker was seen on crunches following a practice in August. Thankfully, the MRI came back negative.
Two weeks later, Fluker is back at practice.
That’s great to see. While Spencer Pulley, an undrafted free agent who made the team, looked good filling in for Fluker, Fluker was poised to have his best year yet, especially since he’ll be more comfortable in his second season at guard (played right tackle his first two seasons). He needs to stay healthy, which was a problem last season, in order for this offensive line to gel.
In other news, defensive end Joey Bosa, who was finally signed a week ago, will take the day off.
Bosa was reportedly staying in great shape, and the coaches are just taking precautionary measures, but you’d like to have him on the field practicing in pads. His status for Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs is in question. Even if he does play, you’d have to figure that his snaps will be limited.
But having the third overall pick on the field is better than having him sit out. Let’s hope Bosa is ready.
