D.J. Swearinger: 'I'm not kind of a ball-hawk, I am a ball-hawk'
Safety D.J. Swearinger is leaving an impressive to this point in the 2015 offseason for the Bucs. He's had some strong practices and is proving that he deserves some extra time on the field when 2015 begins.
As Zach Shapiro of Pewter Report explains, Swearinger is feeling good and playing at a high level.
“Just competing man,” Swearinger told Pewter Report about his recent performance. “My guys underneath are making good drops and I’m making good drops. We’re all making good plays. I just happened to be the one to make those plays, but it’s a full team effort.”
Most importantly, Swearinger wants you to know that he's a ball-hawk in every since of the word.
“I’m not kind of a ball-hawk, I am a ball-hawk,” Swearinger said. “I see myself as a playmaker first and foremost. Whether it’s taking the ball out of the running back’s hand, jarring the ball loose or going and getting an interception – you’ve got to be a playmaker in this league.”
Have to love the confidence from the safety, and it shouldn't surprise anyone to see Swearinger get a fair bit of playing time in 2015.
