Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott are rewriting Aikman and Smith's Cowboys rookie records

The Dallas Cowboys are well on their way to a seventh straight victory, and it’s mostly thanks to their two stellar rookies, quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott. They continued to absolutely dominate on Sunday, setting a handful of rookie records for the Cowboys in the process.

With his 10th touchdown pass of the season (he would later make it 12), Prescott broke Troy Aikman’s franchise record for the most touchdown passes by a rookie. Aikman did it in 11 games compared to Prescott’s eight.

Prescott also holds team rookie records for completions and passing yards, building upon his outstanding first season in the NFL.

In addition, he had his second three-touchdown game, becoming the first Cowboys quarterback to accomplish that feat.

Elliott, too, set a new franchise mark. He scored two rushing touchdowns, moving alone into first place for the most such scores by a Cowboys rookie. He broke the tie with Emmitt Smith and Julius Jones.

Additionally, he joined elite company as the third player in league history with at least 875 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in his first eight games.

This dynamic duo seems primed to carry the Cowboys all the way to the postseason, and maybe beyond.
