Dak Prescott Freezes Giants With Nasty Fake, Throws Touchdown (Video)

Dak Prescott geeked the New York Giants with a fake to find Terrance Williams wide-open for the opening Dallas Cowboys touchdown.

The first time that Dak Prescott faced the New York Giants in the 2016 NFL season, it was Week 1. At that point, the Dallas Cowboys rookie was dipping his toe in the shallow end as a fourth-round pick forced into relief of the injured Tony Romo. Though he made some throws in that game, he was clearly timid and not willing to attack. Amazing how 11-straight wins coming into Week 14 will change a quarterback’s confidence.

After a stalemate early in the first quarter on Sunday Night Football in the rematch, the Cowboys got the ball back and began moving the ball down the field in their normal manner. Ezekiel Elliott was huge in getting chunks of yardage and Prescott was great at finding the open man in space.

When they moved the ball down to the Giants’ 31-yard line, though, Prescott announced loudly to these Giants that he’s not the same quarterback he was in Week 1. Elliott came to his left and Prescott unleashed a gorgeous fake, moving his right hand like the pitch while hanging onto the ball in his left. He then rolled out to his right where Terrance Williams was wide-open after the rookie froze the defense with the fake. Williams, the goat in Week 1, then strolled into the end zone:

Everyone on the field, at home, or even thinking about this game was fooled by that fake.

The poise that Prescott has shown throughout his rookie season is incredible. Yes, that’s a brilliant play-call by offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. But the sell of the fake and the calm rollout before the throw were picture-perfect. Not that most didn’t already know this, but the Week 1 and Week 14 Cowboys are two different beasts entirely.
