Dallas Cowboys fans will love what Ezekiel Elliott just said
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott just talked about the team’s chemistry in the locker room. And what he said should delight Cowboys fans.
The Dallas Cowboys have a big decision to make soon. Once veteran quarterback Tony Romo is fully recovered from a compression fracture he suffered in his back during the preseason, the Cowboys will need to decide whether to return him to the starting role or allow red hot rookie passer Dak Prescott to keep the job.
Prescott has led the 5-1 Cowboys resurgence this season alongside fellow rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott. Some are concerned the team’s chemistry would be disrupted if Romo were to return to the starting role. And right now, that chemistry is good.
In fact, according to Elliott himself, the Cowboys locker room is much more unified than he was told it would be on the professional level.
“Honestly, a lot of people told me that the NFL is different – that guys will be more about themselves and it’s not going to be as much about the team,” Elliott told DallasCowboys.com recently. “I haven’t felt that at all in this locker room. I feel like we’re a very close group of guys. It feels just like in college. We have a lot of fun together, and I don’t think anything can get in between us.”
Elliott went on to say the team’s focus isn’t on personal records. It’s about relationships and winning as a unit. This report about the positive vibes in the locker room and the team’s focus on group achievements over personal accolades should be music to Cowboy fan’s ears.
Obviously, being on a five-game winning streak does a lot for a locker room. But the Dallas brass and coaches must be careful not to damage the team’s chemistry, which can be a fragile thing. Electing to bring Romo back at the right time will be key to maintaining that team unity. It’s hard to imagine making that move as long as the Cowboys are winning ball games.
