Danny Trevathan Out for the Year, 2017 in Doubt?
Reports have surfaced that Danny Trevathan’s knee injury is a significant one and he will miss the remainder of the season.
The injuries continue to mount for the Chicago Bears. As this disastrous season progresses, the Bears are having a hard time just finding enough players to suit up on Sundays. With Jerrell Freeman already out another three games due to his PED suspension, the inside linebacking corps took a major hit on Sunday when Danny Trevathan was injured. Reports surfaced on Sunday evening that it was a significant injury and those reports were confirmed today.

Yes, this season is already lost for the Bears, but this injury could have an impact next season as well. According to Dr. David Chao from National Football Post, these type of injuries are often worse than ACL injuries. There is an intense 6-9 month rehab that occurs after surgery, but even after rehab is completed, players often struggle to regain the explosiveness and mobility that they had prior to the injury. Recently we’ve seen Jimmy Graham and Victor Cruz struggle with these injuries. While Graham appears to be fully recovered now, it was a long road back. Cruz is still not the same player he once was.
In the short-term, the Bears will turn to John Timu and Christian Jones to fill the void left by Trevathan while Nick Kwiatkoski fills in for the suspended Freeman.
As the Bears injuries (and suspensions) continue to mount, this season continues to tumble into a dark abyss. This season has gone so poorly, speculation as to how this season would impact 2017. Now with injuries like this to Trevathan that will linger into 2017, we now know that this debacle will indeed be felt next season. Week 17 can’t come quick enough for Bears fans, and the way injuries keep piling up, you have to wonder if the players feel that way as well.
