Denver Broncos Christmas Special: John Elway's 8th Best Roster Move

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:46 p.m. ET

The under-the-radar players continue as John Elway’s best roster moves for the Denver Broncos as an executive for the historic franchise.

Denver Broncos players, CJ Anderson and Brandon Marshall are impact talent on offense and defense, but there is another player on the roster that slipped through the cracks of opposing teams.

Chris Harris Jr. is the similar story of Anderson. No team drafted Harris in 2011. The 2011 NFL Draft is up there with the 1983 Draft as best ever. At the time there is reason to understand why Harris was not drafted. However, if there was a redo, Harris should be in the first round.

Harris has the ultimate underdog story. The appreciation for a player that is dismissed and work up the ladder is incredible to see the rise of Chris Harris.

It takes faith in your players to see the growth of their potential. As is the case with Harris, Elway trusted the ex-Jayhawk to make the climb to elite cornerback status.

The Broncos cornerback learned under a first ballot Hall of Famer in Champ Bailey. Harris fights for the ball despite his lack of height.

The ball skills are next to none in comparing the great cornerbacks in the NFL. Harris is also a Super Bowl winning corner, which has more weight in the discussion of who is the best at the position.

During Training Camp the Broncos find the best talent to challenger a 53-man incumbent player. Harris is now in the conversation of a top five cornerback. In fact there is no one I would want manning the left or right side of the Broncos secondary than Harris and Aqib Talib.

Harris helped create a Denver defense nickname the “No Fly Zone.” It is a nickname not only meriting the truth of the identity of the secondary, but on par with the old Broncos name “Orange Crush.” He lands on the Christmas special list at number eight. There are more players to come on John Elway’s best roster move tour. Tune in tomorrow with number seven.
