Denver Broncos lock up Emmanuel Sanders with contract extension

The Denver Broncos may have questions at quarterback, but they have answers among their receivers, and on Wednesday they locked up one of their best.

The team announced a three-year extension with Emmanuel Sanders worth $33 million.

Sanders and Demaryius Thomas both have topped 1,000 yards for the past two seasons, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2014 and giving the Broncos one of the top receiver duos in the NFL. Nobody in the NFL has more 30-yard catches over the past two seasons than Sanders' 24.

Despite inconsistent QB play last season, Sanders had 76 catches for 1,135 yards, and added 10 receptions for 147 yards in the playoffs during the Broncos' Super Bowl run.

So when the Rams' Tavon Austin got a four-year, $42 million extension last week, Sanders, who was in the final year of a three-year, $15 million contract, made it clear he planned to get paid, too.

And the Broncos obliged, just as they did this offseason with Brandon Marshall and Von Miller.
