Denver reportedly wants to host the 2019 NFL draft
Denver Broncos president Joe Ellis was in New York this week discussing his team's and city's desire to host the 2019 NFL draft, according to Denver's 9News.com.
The league had held its draft in New York City for 50 years until it decided, starting in 2015, to open up bidding to other cities. Chicago played host to the draft last year and will again starting April 28.
The sites for the 2017 and 2018 drafts have not yet been determined, but Chicago would like to continue on as the site of choice, and other cities such as Canton and Los Angeles have been mentioned as future hosts.
Denver is aiming to take the reins to kick off the NFL's 100th season.
"We're very eager to pursue hosting the NFL Draft," Broncos spokesperson Patrick Smyth told 9News.com. "The next few drafts unfortunately don't align perfectly with the football calendar, but 2019 shapes up well.''
